The Fool Who Sold the Ocean

Once upon a time, in the sun-kissed islands of the Maldives, there lived a man named Fazu. Fazu wasn’t the sharpest seashell on the beach, but he had a heart full of dreams and a knack for getting into trouble.

One day, as Fazu lounged on the white sandy shores, sipping coconut water, a wealthy tourist named Mr. Winthrop approached him.

"Ah, what a magnificent ocean!" Mr. Winthrop sighed. "I wish I could take it home with me."

Fazu, never one to miss an opportunity (or understand sarcasm), perked up. "You want to buy the ocean?"

Mr. Winthrop chuckled. "Well, I suppose if it were for sale..."

Fazu’s eyes sparkled. "For just one million dollars, the ocean is yours!"

Mr. Winthrop, amused, decided to play along. He handed Fazu a shiny gold coin as a "deposit" and said, "I’ll be back with the rest!"

Fazu, now convinced he was a real estate genius, ran to the village square. "I’ve sold the ocean!" he announced.

The villagers gasped. "Fazu, you can’t sell the ocean! It belongs to everyone!"

But Fazu waved them off. "A deal is a deal!"

The next day, Mr. Winthrop returned—with lawyers, contracts, and a mischievous grin. "I’m here to claim my ocean!"

Fazu, suddenly nervous, led him to the shore. "Here it is! All yours!"

Mr. Winthrop nodded. "Excellent. Now, I’d like you to remove it."

"Remove… the ocean?" Fazu blinked.

"Yes! If I own it, I want it packed up and shipped to my villa in Dubai."

Fazu gulped. He grabbed a bucket and started scooping water, but the tide just rolled back in. The villagers laughed as Fazu ran back and forth, desperately trying to "collect" the ocean.

Finally, exhausted, Fazu admitted defeat. Mr. Winthrop, laughing, returned his gold coin. "Lesson learned, my friend. Some things—like the ocean—are priceless."

From that day on, Fazu stuck to selling coconuts. But if you ever visit the Maldives, you might hear the tale of The Fool Who Sold the Ocean—and the day the waves outsmarted him.

The End. 🌊😄
